Modular Hotel Construction in the U.S. On the Rise

NewcrestImage, a privately owned, Lewisville, Texas-based hotel development, construction, and management firm, plans to build the first hotel in Oklahoma to use modular construction technology. The 142-room AC Hotel Bricktown, in Oklahoma City, will also be NewcrestImage’s first modular hotel. ADG Inc. is the architect of record, and Duncan Miller Ullmann the interior designer of the five-story hotel. Metul Patel, NewcrestImage’s Chairman and CEO, describes the hotel’s accommodations as “European-inspired.” The first floor will be built using traditional construction. The upper four floors will be built from 81 modules. Modular production is scheduled to begin next month, and the finished modules are scheduled to be shipped, via flatbed trucks, over four days in October. All rooms and finishes will follow AC Hotel specifications upon delivery, and be indistinguishable from the Marriott brand’s other hotels. Rebuilding Together Helps a Deserving Vet and His Family: In his application for a new home, a young veteran named Zahid wrote that owning his own home would mean that he would finally be able to fully provide for his family. “It’s my way of showing them my love and appreciation for everything they do to help as a wounded veteran.” In 2007 at the age of 19, Zahid joined the United States Marine Corps. While stationed in Japan he was deployed to South Korea, the Philippines and Thailand. In 2010, while stationed in Camp Lejeune, N.C., he was deployed to Sangin, Afghanistan.
