Rebuilding Together Helps a Deserving Vet and His Family: In his application for a new home, a young veteran named Zahid wrote that owning his own home would mean that he would finally be able to fully provide for his family. “It’s my way of showing them my love and appreciation for everything they do to help as a wounded veteran.” In 2007 at the age of 19, Zahid joined the United States Marine Corps. While stationed in Japan he was deployed to South Korea, the Philippines and Thailand. In 2010, while stationed in Camp Lejeune, N.C., he was deployed to Sangin, Afghanistan. After four and a half years of active service, Zahid was honorably discharged with the rank of Lance Corporal. Since returning to civilian life Zahid, his wife Stephanie and their young son Noé have enjoyed living in Arizona for the past two and a half years.
